LLC setup Costs and Annual State Taxes by State

If you decide to start an LLC in the USA, there will be filing fees that you have to pay to the state. These filing fees divide into two;

  1. The one-off filing fee that should be paid during the starting process of LLC
  2. The franchise taxes that should be paid to the government after and every year that follows incorporation

Must to Knows;

  • LLC filing fee is one-off: This fee is paid to the government and is a one-off filing fee. It differs from state to state. There is no monthly state filing fee that you have to pay, it is a one-off fee.
  • The filing fee during the incorporation process is paid to the government. When you choose a registered agent and order for incorporation, it is added to the other expenses after calculating it in comparison with the state terms.
  • Franchise Tax (Annual Payment): The states require a fee, franchise tax, from company owners. This fee differs from state to state. Your registered agent reminds you of the time of the payment.
  • If you do not pay your franchise tax, there will be an exponential increase. Also, your company will be shut down and this situation leads to legal problems.

New Mexico: The incorporation fee is $50. There is no annual filing fee and you do not need to pay annually.

Kentucky: Kentucky is on the list of best states to start an LLC. It has opportunities like $40 for the first filing fee for incorporation and $15 for annual franchise tax. Kentucky is becoming more and more popular with low annual fees.  (This guide includes all the details of starting an LLC for $120)

Wyoming: The incorporation fee is $100. The franchise tax is $50. The payment of franchise tax should be made 10 days before the incorporation date of the company. For example, if your start your company on June 1, 2021, the payment should be made on May 20, 2022, at the latest.

Florida: The incorporation fee is $125. The franchise tax is $138 and it should be filed and paid until May 1 of every year. If your annual report is late, you have to pay a $40, late fee, and your total will be $539. If the payment is not made, the U.S Department of State will shut down your LLC after the fourth Friday of September.

  • I recommend you to read this guide to start an LLC in almost every state for a reasonable price with a special method and discount opportunity. The guide includes all the details of how to start an LLC in Kentucky but the same method can be used for a different state. The process is the same. You can start your company with Inc Authority without the agent fee for two years, and only $89+.
  • You can also read the guide “Establishing a Company in the USA with Northwest”. The steps in this guide are for New Mexico, which has not got an annual franchise tax. The prices for Northwest are more expensive and they claim that their service quality is better but Inc Authority causes no problems. The choice is yours.

P.S. You can start your company in the state you wish with these guides. Just change the choice of state and follow every other step. The incorporation process and other steps are the same.
