What is ITIN?

ITIN is also known as Individual Taxpayer Identification Number in the United States. ITIN is issued to individuals who cannot obtain or are not eligible to obtain an SSN. For example, aliens who are denied temporary residence permits, those who wish to benefit from social security programs such as pension funds or disability insurance, or those who work in a job that is not legally permitted to work in the United States may obtain an ITIN.

Additionally, ITIN is used to pay taxes on income from the United States.
